Photo Essay: The Amazingness that is No. 5; Part I

I've been dropping hints here and there, and I'm sure people are getting annoyed by it, so it's finally about time that I post about what I've been hiding.

Recall last year, when I made a post about Vintage No. 5, a great vintage shop in Georgetown that no one knew about. I have recently been making several trips there. So here are 5 reasons why this shop is awesome and that everyone should go:

#5: The people that run it are super nice. The owner, Sylvia, only works weekends and has bunches of stories to tell. She also very readily gives discounts since essentially she wants to sell as much stuff as possible and get good word-of-mouth. And, relatedly:

#4: The prices are super-cheap. Well, they can be. For the past two days, everything has nearly been only $5-$10. In some cases, that's even cheaper than a thrift store. If you ask, the storespeople will likely give you 50% off.

#3: No one knows about it, so when you go in, you feel ~exclusive~. At least FOR NOW. I think it's one of Georgetown's best kept secrets. I see people walk in with Urban Outfitters bags and I'm like, "dude, you could get the same thing here for a fraction of the price." Of course, they don't even realize it.

#2: ....I work there now! Yeah. Haha. Which explains why I know so much and why I can be a total camwhore in the store after closing hours. Basically, when I visited Sylvia, she said she was looking for help, and I offered. I come in Thursdays and Fridays, 3-6 pm -- it'd be wonderful, of course, if any of you dear readers ever came to visit me! =) That would totally make my day. Alternatively, if you want to purposefully avoid me, the shop's also open weekends from 12-5.

Additionally: The owner did mention letting me take a look at the stock to decide what goes in the store -- if that ACTUALLY happens, you will essentially be visiting a store filled with vintage picks according to my taste. Uhh... take that as whatever way you will (hopefully a good thing?)

And the #1 reason... well, let's let the clothes speak for themselves.

"Brooke doesn't change facial expressions"... whoops.

Think pink!

This paillette cardigan is incredible (similar to the one I already own). Someone needs to get that right now.

Hats 'n sunglasses:

Yep, the hat on the right is also for sale. Speaking of which, I ADORE ALL THESE HATS.

If I posted all the pictures I took right here, this post would explode. Part II pending!

I know they're not exact, but those last glasses remind me of Mathilda from The Professional. Very cool.

When I was in Georgetown we wanted to go to this one but it was closed! Sadface. We went to Annie Creamcheese or whatever but I wasn't a fan, your new job seems much more awesome!!

That cardigan is certainly very cool.

I may have to drop in next week, and in the hopes that it's still there! :^)

That sounds like such an awesome job! I've long thought that my first job will probably be in retail, because I can be charming and persuasive (not to brag) but um, shouldn't I talk about you, not me, in a comment on your blog? I really want to go there and I think it'd be awesome meeting you! Next time I visit DC I'll have to stop by. :-)

Ooh, the clothes are so adorable! Especially diggin' the crochet, cardis, and plaid. Little obscure places are pretty much right up my alley, but alas, I live too far away. :( Hopefully everything works out great for the store, it sounds like an amazing place!

Ok adorable, I am going to have to come by! I'm tired of going to Value Village and finding tired old Nike sweatshirts priced at ten bucks! Some of the thrifts around here are high, seriously.
